Your bedroom should be the coziest space you have in your home. It should be your haven that is exactly as you want it. A place where you can do away with convention and be perfectly at ease. Some of the suggestions would make your grandmothers hair stand on end, but it is more vital that your bedroom is your space where you can be the real you.
Sets of bedclothes usually have a top sheet included. This can be a nuisance. They never stay in the right place with your other bed linen, and can get very uncomfortable, so do away with them. You won’t miss them and in fact, will have a better nights sleep without it.
Choose The Right Window Dressing
Regardless of if you have a small window because your bedroom is in the attic, or a large window that opens onto a terrace, the window dressing can affect the whole atmosphere of your room. The choice is enormous from blinds at Carpet One to drapes that are flimsy or heavy. Pick the window dressing that you think best suits your room.
Lighting is very important. Traditional lights and lamps can be boring, so why not try something totally different. Fairy lights look good and add a warm glow to the room. If you need something brighter to read by, have a statement light at the side of your bed.
Replace The Comforter With Throws
Big, chunky throws can be much more comfortable to curl up in than a traditional comforter, and they take less looking after. You can have 2 or 3 on your bed, and then there are no arguments when your partner curls himself or herself up in one, there will still be plenty left to keep you warm too. There will not be so much bed making either if you use throws. There is no rule that says you must make your bed each day, and with throws that really is the case because as the name suggests you just throw them on and it does not matter how they land.
Just a bed frame against the wall can make your interior feel cold. Invest in a headboard to make it cozier, or even make one yourself. They do not have to be fixed to the bed or the wall as they can be totally free standing.
Add A Canopy
Placing your bed in a recess will make it feel cozier, but if that is not possible consider adding a canopy. That enclosed perception can go a long way towards you feeling snug and warm.
Use Cozy Colors
Bright colors will not encourage rest and sleep and will have the opposite effect, Use cozy colors that will enhance a relaxing mood, such as beiges, greys and even white. Autumn shades are good for this purpose too.
Your bedroom should be the place where you go to relax, and not just for sleep. Make it a room that is great to be in for you, and your partner, as no one else matters in this particular space.
