7 Ways To Prepare Your House For Unexpected Visitors This Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner and chances are you’ll be absolutely nowhere near ready. If that’s the case, then you’re definitely not going to be prepared for any unwanted guests over the festive season. Whether it’s your parents visiting on Christmas Eve or an unexpected present drop from a friend, you want your house at it’s best just in case.

With that in mind, here are 7 ways to prepare your house for unexpected guests this Christmas:

Clear Out Any Unwanted Items

If you’re anything like me you’ll have lots of junk that has accumulated throughout the year. Whether it’s things you don’t need anymore or something you’ve been trying to get rid of but don’t have the time, this is the perfect time to get rid of it. Spend a few hours having a big clear out of stuff you no longer need and your house will already start to feel incredibly different.

Have A Big ‘Winter’ Clean

Massive house cleans are not just for Spring! Making sure your house is looking and smelling incredible before Christmas is important and you never know when anyone could walk through your door. Whether you’re cleaning your entire kitchen from top to bottom, clearing out the spare bedroom or using a central vacuum service throughout the whole house – you’ll feel so much better for it.

Buy Lots Of Stunning Decorations

There’s nothing better than a well-decorated house at Christmas. Even if you’re not expecting guests it’s nice to go all out and decorate your house in stunning Christmas decorations just for you and the family, but when other people see them and compliment you on how incredible they look it’s definitely a great feeling. So, treat yourself to some new decorations and make your house look amazing!

Decorate Any Areas That Need Attention

If you have any areas in your house that need some TLC, then thinking about redecorating them quickly before Christmas could make a whole lot of difference to the look and feel of your house. Whether it’s painting the skirting boards, putting up a new wallpaper in the guest bedroom or simply fixing a squeaky cupboard door – getting them done before Christmas will make you feel so much better about your home.

Just in case anyone ends up having a little too much to drink and has to stop the night, extra bedding and towels and incredibly handy. Stock up and if you don’t need them now, at least you’ll have them for the future.

Make Your Garden Look Clean And Presentable

Although no one will be going in your garden, they’ll still be able to see it through your back windows. Making it look clean and presentable, even if it’s not, gives off your a little more put together than you may be. If you do want to show off your garden, and impromptu firework session on New Year’s Eve could do the trick!

Do These Things Now To Ensure An Easy Christmas

Chances are, you are already starting to think about Christmas. Maybe you have even got most of the way to being ready, and there is only a little left to do. But however far along you are you will want to make sure that you are paying attention to a few things in particular and getting them sorted as soon as you can if you are to have as easy a Christmas as possible. Everyone wants to make sure that their Christmas goes as smoothly as you would like, and that means that you need to be aware of what you need to do to make that happen. In this post, we will look at a number of the things that you should think about doing now in order to have an easier time later. As long as you can do these, you will find Christmas is a doddle.

Fix Up The House

It is a great time to look at if you need anything doing in your house, as if you do then you will need to make sure you fix it as soon as possible. If there are any big things to fix in the house, you don’t’ want them to go wrong at Christmas, and you certainly don’t want to have to call anyone out on Christmas, as it will be incredibly expensive to do so – if you can even get them out on Christmas, that is. Instead, look now at what needs doing and make sure that you get it fixed as soon as you can. Whether that means calling the blocked drains specialists or your local electrician, you will want to make sure that you are doing everything you can to keep your home in the best working order you can.

Buy The Presents

If you find yourself always rushing to buy presents last thing, you might be keen to make it a little different this year, and get the presents early. The truth is that it is already getting to the point where you will want to make sure you are getting your presents done and wrapped, and if nothing else it will mean that you are much more likely to feel in control and calm when Christmas week does come around. By buying your presents now, you will also hopefully avoid some of the Christmas rush and the hiked prices that tend to go along with it, which is absolutely going to help you out as well.

Plan Your Meals

If you are the one who is going to be cooking on Christmas Day, even if you have some help, then you should start planning out what you are actually going to cook and how, as the more aware you are of what you are going to do here the more likely it is that you will be able to get it right on the day itself. Planning your meals is likely to be important, and it will mean that you will have much less of a headache on the day, so do consider it.

Love & Hot Chocolate Printable

It’s the Christmas season and what better way to celebrate than to give! I created a FREE printable to share with you featuring one of my favorite quotes from Peanuts creator, Charles M. Schulz. “All you need is love, but a little hot chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.” Isn’t that the truth?

This season is full of family, love and food (even a mug of decedent hot chocolate). What better way to feel like a kid again at Christmas than to sit down with a mug of hot chocolate topped with EXTRA marshmallows!

So print, decor and enjoy! My gift to you, this wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas! ~M

Desktop December 2016 Calendar

When I started my blog one of my goals was to share my love for what I do, DESIGN! Every month I design a desktop, tablet and mobile calendar to share with my readers. It’s a little something to dress up your space and help stay organized for the holidays. I’m in love with botanical illustrations right now and thought this style had a wonderful vintage touch. I love incorporating vintage items into my Christmas decorating. Thank you for all of your support and I hope you all enjoy December’s calendar!
